Germany: 1 Dead, Several Injured After SUV Plows Into Crowd in Stuttgart

One person has died and several others were injured after a car drove into a group of people waiting at a metro stop in Stuttgart, southwestern Germany. Police said there is currently no evidence to suggest the incident was intentional, describing it as a likely tragic accident.

The collision occurred when a Mercedes G-Class SUV came around a corner and struck pedestrians near the city’s public transit system. According to officials, eight people were injured in total, three of them seriously. One woman, aged 46, had to be resuscitated at the scene and later died in hospital from her injuries.

Police quickly launched an investigation but have found no indication of deliberate action or links to terrorism. Authorities emphasized that it appears to be an unfortunate traffic incident, although they are continuing to review all circumstances.

The tragedy comes amid heightened public sensitivity in Germany following a series of deadly car-ramming incidents in recent months, some of which were found to be intentional. While this case is not being treated as an attack, it has nonetheless prompted renewed concern over pedestrian safety and driver responsibility.
