Jeroen Eijsink Appointed CEO of HHLA: A New Era for Hamburg’s Logistics Giant

As of 1 October 2025, Jeroen Eijsink has formally taken over as Chief Executive Officer at Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), Germany’s leading port logistics operator. Eijsink, a highly experienced logistics and transport expert with more than 25 years of global experience, takes on this role after Angela Titzrath, the previous CEO, who remained at HHLA for nine years.

A Leader with Global Expertise

Born in the Netherlands, Eijsink started his professional journey in the digitalization department at Siemens. In 2003, he moved to Deutsche Post DHL, where he played important leadership positions, including CEO of DHL Freight Germany and CEO of DHL Freight Benelux & UK. In 2015, he joined C.H. Robinson, a global freight services company, where he spearheaded the growth of the company’s European business. Most recently, Eijsink was CEO of Girteka Group, one of the top European road transport businesses, where he led its strategic reorientation. AJOT
Eijsink is a graduate in Business Administration from Erasmus University Rotterdam. With his long experience in logistics and transport, he is well qualified to steer HHLA through the changing challenges and opportunities in the international logistics industry.

HHLA’s Strategic Direction Under New Leadership

When he was appointed, Eijsink welcomed the prospect of working with HHLA’s employees throughout Europe. He focused on promoting sustainable development, increased competitiveness, and strengthening HHLA as a reliable partner in European logistics.

Container News

HHLA owns and operates three of the Port of Hamburg’s four container terminals: Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA), Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB), and Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT). All three form the cornerstone of HHLA’s position in the handling of much of Germany’s container throughput. With Eijsink at the helm, the company continues to optimize processes even further, invest in digitalization, and seek out sustainable approaches to remain competitive in the European logistics market.

Transition in Governance

Marcus Vitt has also been appointed as Chairman of HHLA’s Supervisory Board, replacing Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Grube. Vitt comes with vast experience from his time at DONNER & REUSCHEL AG and Hamburg Stock Exchange Council. His appointment is likely to complement Eijsink’s vision for future growth and innovation of HHLA.

Looking Ahead

With an experienced leader at the helm and a well-thought-out governance model in place, HHLA is well-equipped to tackle the complexities of the global logistics business. Eijsink’s appointment ushers in a new era for HHLA with sustainability, innovation, and greater competitiveness in European logistics at its core.

With HHLA staying in the driver’s seat of the Port of Hamburg’s future, stakeholders and industry observers will be keeping a close eye on how Eijsink’s tenure shapes the company’s direction in the next few years.
